Asknes Takes a Commanding Lead

On the last hand of the 40,000/80,000 level, Kristian Aksnes limped on the button and Andre Santos checked his option on the big blind. On the 8h-9s-7c flop, Santos checked, Aksnes bet 100,000 and Santos called. An Ah turn triggered another check-call from Santos, this time to the tune of 320,000. On the 4s river, Santos check-called for the third consecutive time, the bet on this occasion being a whopping 1,000,000.

With the pot size hovering around the 3,000,000 mark the cards hit the felt:

Aksnes = 6h-5s for the flopped straight
Santos = Ac-7s for turned two pair

And with that triumph, Aksnes is just a gnat's pubic hair away from snatching gold.
