A few hands later, Monteiro picked up the blinds with a standard preflop raise. He showed pocket nines.

Yngve Steen raised it up to 42,000 preflop on Merianda Füllenbach's big blind. Short-stacked, Füllenbach wanted to wait to see if anyone was eliminated on the big hand occurring simultaneously on the feature table, but Steen called the clock. Eventually, she folded. "If nobody had been knocked out, I would have given it a go," she added.
