A seaside resort and civil parish of the Portuguese municipality of Cascais, Estoril is famed for motor sports, Roman mansion ruins and being the residence of Juan de Borbón, pretender to the Spanish throne during the last part of the twentieth century (all hail Wikipedia). This week, however, we can add poker to that stunted list of claims as the exuberant Casino Estoril plays host to the Betsson Estoril LIVE and four days of poker fun and frolics.

In what should be a bizarre culture shock for those more accustomed to scraping the frost off their car window and throwing snowballs at passers-by, players will surely embrace the gentle heat of Estoril as they swap woolly hat and scarf for Bermuda shorts and sandals. But, of course, poker is an indoor sport (I use this term loosely), and here at the Casino Estoril the staff are working like shire-horses to ensure that the 300 plus players are graced with the best tournament possible. With such a lavish venue, spacious surroundings and an estimated $600,000 in prize money up for grabs, they should be in for a real treat.

There will be elation and tears of joy combined with heartache and devestation, as well as blood and guts as we experience our initial casualties, but either way, your intrepid Betsson update team will do their very best to bring you all the commotion, as it happens.
