5Bet Shove FTW

Oh the joys of the deep stack, and the many and varied ways to get it all in the middle! Preflop tends not to be one of them occurring too often at this stage, however, although just now it looked like it might...

It started with a limp...on the button. Small blind Matey, with whom the button had earlier been sharing earphones in a touching display of poker pal-ery then announced, "Raise," and put in 450. Over to the big blind, who suddenly made it 1,400. Eyebrows went up. "That's what I'm talking about!" said the button, before making it a surprise 3,000.

The small blind had lost interest completely now, but the bb, looking as serious as a heart attack, checked out his opponent's stack and then moved all-in - for 15,650, then placing his hood over his hat and his head on the table. So no reads there. A dwell of great length followed, while the button looked like he was trying to get a read from the dealer instead. It looked like this very oddly played hand might result in a c.30k pot... but he passed in the end.
