Big Stacks Collide

As two titans clash, the crowd draw nearer the table, perhaps eager to witness the biggest pot of the day with the uncontrollable zest of blood thirsty vampires. But although the two initially threatened to satisfy their thirst, the action quickly petered out.

I joined the action on an 8d-Kd-9d-Ac board, with Lasse Lien (big blind) having fired 15,000 into the pot. Without too much hesitation, Aaro Jokinen (mid position) dipped into his seemingly endless stack, and made a min-raise to 30,000. "Just a min raise?" inquired Lien before making the call.

On the Jh river, both players checked nervously, Lien taking it down with As-Ks versus Jokinen hugely inferior 7h-7s. "I call any bet," declared Lien as he scooped the pot. "Unless you go all in, then I don't know what I'll do."

Nevertheless, that win maintains Lien's strangle hold on the comp as current chip leader with 250,000, whilst a once Flying Finn, Jokinen, drops down to 125,000.
