Rivered House

Poker's a cruel game, sometimes, and none more so when a flopped full house isn't enough to take down the pot. I didn't catch the preflop action, but by the time we reached the river of a 6c-6d-Ks-5d-Ah board, the two players went completely bananas, Jachtmann leading for 4,000, the button announcing all-in and Jachtmann calling quicker than a cheetah on Concord.

There was a slight hesitancy to show at first, but as the final caller, Jachtmann demanded that his opponent turned over his cards first, which he did, revealing Kc 6s in the process. But although good, it wasn't quite good enough as Jachtmann tabled the pocket rockets for the rivered house and a tidy pot.

Still smiling, although perhaps through gritted teeth, the victim was left with a paltry 4,000, as Germany's Jachtmann enjoyed a timely double up for a circa 25,000 stack.
